Visit to the Vallein Tercinier family Cognac House
Are you a spirits enthusiast or simply curious to discover a local speciality? We recommend a visit to the Famille Vallein Tercinier Cognac House in Chermignac.
Bought by Louis Vallein in 1791, the Domaine des Forges began selling cognac in 1850. Since then, five generations have succeeded one another in growing and developing Cognac Vallein Ternicier. As well as the famous cognacs, the company produces liqueurs (pear, almond, caramel, etc.) and Pineau des Charentes.
The Vallein Ternicier family invites you to discover the traditional production process of its famous cognac. Distillation, ageing in the cellars, as well as the subtleties of the terroir... You'll know everything there is to know! The visit ends with a tasting session.
Practicalities: visit by appointment from Monday to Saturday (9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm).
In Thénac, just a 5-minute drive from the Vallein Ternicier Cognac House, Le Domaine des Chais welcomes you for an authentic experience.
The hotel has six spacious rooms in a charming building dating from 1785. Its history is far from ordinary: it once housed the Thénac wine cellars and Napoleon I's barracks! Each of the six rooms has its own atmosphere, but what they all have in common is the charm of the stone walls combined with modern comforts.
Special mention should be made of the relaxing views over the park or the fountain! You'll enjoy strolling through the two-hectare green park and sampling the local cuisine served in the hotel restaurant. This cuisine has been selected by the Gault et Millau Aquitaine guide in 2023/2024. 🏅
You won't be at the end of your surprises when you book at the Domaine des Chais! Our hotel also has a 250-seat cabaret where you can enjoy a colourful Music-Hall show!
