The Grottes du Régulus are located in Meschers-sur-Gironde, on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, around ten kilometres from Royan.
These caves nestle in limestone cliffs sculpted by marine and river erosion.
They were enlarged by man in the 19th century to create a real habitat carved out of the rock on the mountainside. The site was used as a troglodytic dwelling.
45-minute guided tours, punctuated by historical anecdotes and local legends, will reveal the secrets of this troglodytic site.
As well as the guided tours, the Grottes du Régulus offer a host of activities to add to your discovery!
