In Charente-Maritime, the tourist season, it is all the year...

A privileged geographical situation the geographical position on the Atlantic coast is sometimes vague, the Vendée, the Gironde... It is a good occasion to specify that the department of Charente-Maritime constitutes the Atlantic frontage of the Poitou-Charentes area.
It is precisely located between these two departments, the department of the Vendée in north and the department of the Gironde in the south. It is not useless to also state that the Poitou-Charentes area is made of four departments, Vienna, Two-Sevres, Charente and Charente-Maritime. The department of Charente-Maritime roughly covers the old provinces of Aunis (area of the Small rock and north of the department) and of Saintonge (area the Holy ones and south of the department).
A department which one learns how to know and to appreciate One learns how to know and like the Charente-Maritime.
It is not the thunderbolt but rather a progressive attraction which makes rather quickly a place impossible to circumvent of it. One discovers in particular the complementarity ente the side sea, sand, sun of the islands and the littoral and the side peace, serenity, quality of life, inheritance, preserved nature of the countries of the interior. Animation or peace, relaxation or discovered, leisures of rest or sportsmen are perfectly compatible in Charente-Maritime.

The emergence of the "Countries".
the "countries", are not only any more of the administrative entities of local management, but have more and more visibility for the tourists, since the panels at the edge of the roads announcing the entry in a country to the tourist documents and with Internet sites... the Charente-Maritime is made up of nine Countries with north in the south, the Country of Aunis, the Rochelais Country, the Country of the island of D, the Rochefortais Country, the Country of Valley-of-Saintonge, the Country Marenne oyster, the Country of Saintonge Romane, the Royannais Country and the Country of High Saintonge.
The richnesses of "the back-country" and the estuary the countries of the interior, High-Saintonge, Saintonge Romance, Valleys of Saintonge, Aunis, constitute the essence of the surface of the Charente-Maritime.
The estimates indicate that 90% of the tourists concentrate in the islands and the Countries of the Littoral. These tourists have good reasons to choose the littoral as place of stay but their highly let us recommend we not to finish their stay without to have made some escapades in the countries of the interior. They will have of them excellent memories, visual, cultural and gastronomical. They are indeed the countries of the Gallo-Roman inheritance and the Romance inheritance.
